Nathan Hureau is now a sworn translator and interpreter at the Higher Regional Court of Cologne
Less than a year after joining Qivive, Nathan Hureau has been officially authorized as a translator and interpreter by the Higher Regional Court of Cologne (Oberlandesgericht Köln).
One of the particularities of the law firm Qivive Avocats & Rechtsanwälte is that all documentation and especially all contracts are always drafted in German and French. In order to meet the high quality standards of the lawyers and clients, Qivive employs a total of in-house 3 translators, who are able to produce very comprehensible and legally flawless translations even within the shortest deadlines.
The high quality of the translations is guaranteed in particular by the fact that the translators translate almost exclusively legal texts and also use the Trados translation software to ensure the necessary coherence of terminology.
Nathan Hureau, who obtained his Master’s degree in specialised translation less than a year ago in Cologne, joined Qivive's team of translators in 2019 and specializes in the translation of French texts into German. In order to develop his skills, Nathan attended this year's training courses in German law organized by the German Federal Association of Interpreters and Translators (BDÜ) and passed the final exam on 20 June 2020.
With this proof of a profound knowledge of German legal terminology, Nathan now fulfils all requirements, so that on 21 August 2020 he was awarded the titles "Durch die Präsidentin des Oberlandesgerichts Köln ermächtigter Übersetzer" (Translation: "Translator certified by the President of the Higher Regional Court of Cologne") and "Allgemein beeidigter Dolmetscher" (Translation: "Generally sworn interpreter"). This means that from now on he has the authority to certify the accuracy and completeness of translations into and from French and English. In addition to this, he will in future be entitled to invoke a generally taken oath to act as an interpreter at court hearings.
Managing Partner Dr. Christophe Kühl: "The steadily growing success of Qivive is primarily due to the outstanding qualifications of our employees. For this reason, we encourage and support further training measures for our colleagues wherever possible. We are very pleased that Nathan has not only passed the examination but has also been certified and sworn as a translator and interpreter by the Higher Regional Court. Nathan will thus help us to make good progress in our constant efforts to improve our service".
